The e xperience of 51 years has shown us that quality tablet compression tooling can't be produced without the use of quality raw materials, manufactured to strict specifications. For example, we exclusively use electric furnace-produced steel, vacuum-melted in 100,000-pound heat to aero-space tolerances for uniformity and cleanliness. All pharmaceutical tooling is formed from high-nickel, high-chrome shock steel that must meet Elizabeth's strict requirements before we will ever consider it.

Keeping abreast of today's latest equipment, techniques and processes is no easy task. Not only do we invest continuously in new technology; employees are constantly undergoing training and honing of their skills. We take genuine pride in the work we do and the equipment we use. To complete the loop, The Elizabeth Companies depends upon its meticulous in-process and final inspections to confirm the quality of our compression tooling. Inspectors utilize the latest in QC technology and processes including laser measuring equipment accurate to +/-.00001" and electronic height, OD and concentricity gauges. Conventional equipment such as micrometers, pin gauges, optical comparators, section microscopes and contour trackers are also to be found in the QC arsenal. Ultimately, all compression tooling shipped will meet or exceed the customers' specifications as well as our own very stringent standards.

Multi-Tip Tablet Tooling

With over 50 years of tooling experience, The Elizabeth Companies have the expertise and the technology creating enhanced tooling designs utilizing multiple tips for increased output which result in long term cost savings.
Multi-tip tools allow you to produce at a minimum - DOUBLE your normal output in the same amount of time for your current run! Depending upon the tablet size and the number of tips that can be used on one tool, you can increase your output substantially over your normal output.
This equals not only a COST SAVINGS but also a PRODUCTION TIME SAVINGS!
On a cost per tablet formula multi-tip tools are the best way to utilize your tablet press and to maximize your tooling budget. While the initial tool set cost is more, factored against the tablet output, it is a clear savings. And don't forget - you are using the same press, the same people, the same production room, and the same amount of time to produce more tablets - at least double the amount of tablets!
How Many Tips Can I Use On My Tools?
The Elizabeth design team will work with you on your specific tableted product to determine if multi-tip tools can work for you. First, from a dimensional standpoint, if you can fit more than one tablet on the top of your tools then multi-tip tooling may be a viable option. Often times a change to a larger press (and tool size) can provide more possiblities for a multi-tip solution.
The Elizabeth engineers have extensive experience solving the potential issues involved in designing multi-tip tooling. Important factors we must together consider are your granulation formula and the required tonnage, both of which are crucial for determining whether your product can be run in a multi-tip setup.

We specialize in tooling for irregular shapes. Intricate face forms on punches are commonplace for our experienced craftsmen. Tolerances of .0001 can be held on most tooling. Complicated shape punches can be fit to mating dies with a total clearance of .0002 inch if needed.
Extrusion dies, Draw dies, multiple cavity dies and shape core rods are manufactured to the same strict quality standards as our precision compacting dies.

Damaged punches can be re-faced or re-tipped while still controlling an exact fit to existing dies. Dies can be re-lined and still match the punches originally manufactured for the dies. We can modify your tooling to meet changing engineering or design requirements.
